SHORT TRIP

DOWNTOWN GATLINBURG, TENNESSEE

Left Pigeon Forge and headed south and down through Gatlinburg and then entered the Great Smokey Mountains National Forest.  Absolutely gorgeous scenery and some very twisty and winding roads.  Lots of elbow turns and "S" curves.  We actually climbed to 6600 feet in our drive through the forest.

AND ANOTHER VIEW

We entered the national forest in Tennessee and when we came out we were in Cherokee, North Carolina.  We decided to stop at Harrah's casino in Cherokee for the night.  We set up and headed out for a tour of Cherokee.  It's another very touristy town with all the same things you see in all the other tourist towns.

This bear is painted with images to depict the members of the Indian nation that were killed in battle during the different wars.

This is another bear that's on the Native Veterans' Memorial Park.
After the tour the rest of the afternoon was spent in Harrah's . . . me losing money and Cam winning.  In the end we broke absolutely even so it was a good and fun afternoon.

Not sure where we're headed tomorrow . . . today we didn't end up where we had planned so we'll see about tomorrow when it comes.
